Everyday there are lots of changes came about in the medical science. Just think of an inventive non-surgical coronary artery by-pass procedure. The technique known as percutaneous in situ coronary venous arterialization (PICVA) has been recently publicized through the Journal of American Heart Association. In this operation an ultra-sound catheter inserts a needle through an artery wall and into an adjoining vein creating a channel in to the nearby vein which redirect the blood around the block in the artery. This technique is very advanced and offers very fast recovery as compared to the traditional method of by pass surgery which is practiced all over.

In an experimental surgical treatment this technique has been successfully came up with a 53 year old German who has been complaining chest pain for a period of 12 months. He had been gone through the traditional bypass or balloon angioplasty which had resulted severe chest pain due to total blockage of the coronary artery.

However studies are urged by the experts to determine the durability of PICVA and to set up the effectiveness and safety of the surgical procedure which could replace the conventional method once for all.
